Standing Order Notice

This notice tells you who authorizes your lab order, what that clinician does and does not do, and how to reach a clinician.

1. Who authorizes your lab order

A clinician in Arora Health's network licensed in your state authorizes your lab order. Their name appears on your lab order.

"Arora Health" means Arora Health and/or its subsidiary entities.

2. What "authorizes" means

Federal lab rules (the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments, or CLIA) allow a laboratory to test a sample only on the order of a person the law authorizes, such as a licensed clinician.

The clinician has agreed in advance to authorize lab orders for adults who buy a test through Halftime. This advance agreement is called a standing order. It covers a person who is 21 or older and who lives in a state where checkout shows tests are available.

When your order meets these rules, the clinician authorizes it by attaching their name to it.

This is not a medical review and not a prescription. The clinician does not examine you, does not speak with you, and does not review your order or your results from this test.

3. What the clinician does not do

The clinician's role is limited to authorizing your lab order. It does not include:

  • reviewing or explaining your results;
  • diagnosing a condition;
  • prescribing or recommending treatment; or
  • ongoing care.

Your results from this test appear in your Halftime account without a clinician review. The Lab Testing Consent explains this.

4. If a result is dangerous

  • If the laboratory finds a result in its critical range, federal law requires it to alert the clinician who authorized your order.
  • Halftime also checks your results against its own urgent cutoff. If a result crosses it, your account marks your results for follow-up, and Halftime's operations team gets an urgent alert.
  • Do not wait for anyone to contact you. Speak with a clinician or your own healthcare provider promptly about any result your account marks.
  • If you feel unwell, or you have a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

5. Halftime does not practice medicine

Halftime Health LLC is not a medical practice. Halftime does not practice medicine, does not employ the clinician, and does not direct the clinician's medical judgment. Halftime arranges the order, ships the kit through its kit partner, and shows your results in your account.

6. How to reach a clinician

  • To talk to a clinician about your results: book the optional video visit in your Halftime account. The visit costs $49. You pay when you book. The visit is with a licensed clinician in Arora Health's network. You accept a separate telehealth consent when you book. The Refund Policy explains that we do not refund a video visit once payment is taken.
  • Questions about your order: contact support in Ask Hana, or email support@halftime.health.
  • Your own healthcare provider: we encourage you to share your results with your own healthcare provider.

The video visit is optional. You do not need it to buy a test or to see your results.

This is not emergency care. Halftime Health does not provide urgent or emergency medical services. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. If you have an adverse reaction, book a $49 physician visit. We do not staff a medical-crisis on-call.
